“Parumaka Pavita puta parumaka Sivena karite manapadasane sagasa”

 

This is a pre-Brahmi cave inscription from Dulvala in Kandy district.

A cave named Manapadassana, completed by Chief Siva, son of Chief Pavita, was offered to the Sangha.

The Pavita name mentioned here is a rare one. It can be assumed to be pure. The name Shiva is a popular name among Sri Lankan inscriptions. It is especially popular among the inscriptions of the southern region of Sri Lanka.
