“Parumaka pavita puta parumaka sivena karite manapadasane sagasa”

 

This is a pre-Brahmi cave inscription from dulvala in kandy district.

A cave named manapadassana, completed by Chief siva, son of Chief Pavita, was offered to the Sangha.

The Pavita name mentioned here is a rare one. It can be assumed to be pure. The name Shiva is a popular name among Sri Lankan inscriptions. It is especially popular among the inscriptions of the southern region of Sri lanka.
